New Feature Announced For Albion Online

Sandbox Interactive has shared a new video showcasing one of the newest features in their cross-platform MMORPG Albion Online: laborers. The developer describes them as “hirable resource gatherers.” Because building and crafting is a major part of the game, and since that building and crafting requires resources, the gathering process is crucial in the game’s economy. “the labor system fills your house with life and purpose, gives you something to do in your player house.” Says Robin Henkys, the lead game designer.

The developer describes the laborers as NPCs who not only help with resource collection, but bring a purpose to the game’s housing concept. There are several different types of laborers, including gatherers, crafters, and a mercenary. These are available to choose from according to one’s playstyle. As they become more skilled and grow in ability, laborers will want more to be happy, and the player should keep in mind to accommodate them. As the developer says on their site:

“After settling labourers in either a house or a guild hall, players acquire from them a profession-related journal in order to fill it in with notes for labourers to follow while performing their tasks. The more tasks labourers finish, the more proficient they become, which in turn means they become more demanding. In order to keep them content, players need to provide them with appropriate furniture and house decorations.”

The closed beta for Albion Online was recently announced to start later this month, along with a set of new features. The game’s official release date has not been announced, but it will be available on PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux.

Cross-Platform MMORPG ‘Albion Online’ Closed Beta Starts Monday, “Classless Combat” Video Released

It’s been a while since we talked about the upcoming cross-platform MMORPG Albion Online, but with the closed beta starting early next week and new videos being released it feels like a good time for an update. Our first post on Albion Online was more than a year ago when we took a look at a lengthy video of an early version of the game. This past June another new video was released and details on alpha testing emerged. This week, developer Sandbox Interactive has sent over their latest video which details the “classless combat” in Albion Online.

If you liked that video there are plenty more on the Albion Online YouTube channel which Sandbox has been posting during the course of the game’s development, including quite a few new ones since we last looked at the game. The closed beta for Albion Online is also kicking off this coming Monday, and if you’re keen to get in on that there’s still time. You can find out details on their website, but be aware it does cost money to join. Albion Online is heading to Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android in the (hopefully) not too distant future.
